Debt defaulter arrested
Guwahati, Jul 3 (UNI) A debt defaulter, working in the food supply division at the Narangi Army cantonment, was arrested by the Guwahati police today, with several such other defaulters likely to be arrested in the coming days.
One Chimmi Chandra Bora was arrested from a liquor den in an inebriated condition near the Army cantonment in the morning hours.
He was sentenced to 90 days in the Guwahati civil prison by Bakijai (Recovery) civil court of the state Cooperative department Magistrate Bikram Hazarika.
The accused had taken a loan of Rs 50,000 from the Cooperative City Bank Ltd in 2003, on an agreement of paying it back in 48 installments of Rs 1,300 each.
However, Bora failed paying back the money and also did notrespond to the notices served by the Bank as well as the Bakijai Court, when the case was brought to the later.
Several other persons who had taken loan along with Bora and had failed to pay back would also be arrested soon, sources informed.
