Central Educational Institution Act to be amended

New Delhi, July 3 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for introduction of the Central Educational Institutions (reservation in Admission) Amendment Bill, 2008 in Parliament.

The amended Bill would facilitate to overcome practical difficulties in implementing the provisions of the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006.

The Bill received the assent of the President on January 1, 2007.

The Act provides for the reservation in admission of the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Other Backward Classes of citizens, to certain Central Educational Institutions established, maintained or aided by the Central Government.
