9,4976 farmers get complete loan waiver in HP

Shimla, Jul 3 (UNI) A total number of 9,4976 small and marginal farmers in Himachal Pradesh have been given complete waiver of their agricultural loan dues amounting to Rs 242.97 crores wheras 3,789 other farmers have been provided debt relief amounting to Rs 16.83 crores.

HP bankers committee Field General Manager and Convenor Ripan Murgai has informed that as per the reports received from various banks in the state, 9,8765 farmers had been identified for debt waiver and relief amounting to Rs 259.80 crores.

Mr Murgai said that all the banks in the state had completed the identification process and the lists of the farmers who had been given debt waiver and relief had also been displayed at all the branches of all the banks.

The Nationalised banks have identified 32379 farmers for waiver of loans amounting to Rs 100.03 crores and 1971 farmers for debt relief amounting to Rs 4.35 crores in the state.

The Regional Rural Banks have identified 8262 formers for complete waiver of loans amounting to Rs 15.98 Crores and 144 farmers for providing relief amounting to Rs 0.23 crores.

The co-operative Sector Banks have identified the largest number of farmers in the state and reported 5,4335 farmers who have been identified for complete waiver of their loans amounting to Rs 12.25 crores.
