Truckers strike hits goods movement, prices soar

Ranchi, Jul 2 (UNI) The nationwide strike, called by the All India Motor Transport Congress(AIMTC) in support of their demands, affected transporation of minerals in Jharkhand today.

Transportation of mainly coal, bauxite and iron ores were affected.

The impact of the strike was also seen in the vegetable markets as low supply led to further price rise of the perishables.

The truckers' 13-point demands include reduction of toll tax and uniform diesel prices across the country.
