Three more Amarnath yatris die, total toll 33 so far

Srinagar, Jul 2 (UNI) Three more Amarnath pilgrims died due to heart attack at different places en route to the cave shrine during the past 24 hours, official sources said today.

With this, a total of 33 pilgrims have so far died natural death since the commencement of the two-month-long yatra on June 18 on both sides of traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal routes.

Sources said one G P Choudhary died on way to the shrine at Panjtherni on Pahalgam cave route due to heart attack.

Another unidentified elderly sadhu died at Pissu top, they said, adding that one pilgrim identified as Sanjay Tak, a resident of New Karan Nagar, Jammu died at Baltal.

Thirty six year-old Tak died before he could be attended by the doctors at the base camp after he suffered a massive heart attack.
