PPP important for Small Hydro Electric Projects: UP Chief Sec

Lucknow, July 2 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Atul Kumar Gupta today emphasised upon the Public Private Partnership (PPP) modal and said it should be encouraged for the establishment of Small Hydro Electric Projects.

Energy, alternative energy and infrastructure development department should jointly prepare an action plan, so that Small Hydro Electric Projects could develop in a speedy manner, Mr Gupta said addressing the Jhansi Sheetala Small Hydro Electric Scheme's revised proposal/estimate meeting at Annexe here.

The meet was organised by Public Investment Board (State Planning Institute).

Sanctioning the revised cost of Rs 21.73 crore for this scheme, he said the remaining works under it would be completed soon.

Further giving details about the Sheetala Micro Hydro Electric Schemes on Betwa river in Jhansi by Energy department, Managing Director Production and Hydro Electric Corporation Alok Tandon said power generation work has been started.

The power generated through it was being sent to the power grid of UP Power Corporation through 132/33 KV power sub-station situated at Moth in Jhansi. It had been designed on the basis of 50 per cent availability of water, Mr Tandon added.

Principal secretary (Planning) Pankaj Agarwal, principal secretary (Urban Development) S R Lakha and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
