Phoolan Devi murder: Rana's plea for transfer of case declined

New Delhi, Jul 2 (UNI) The District Judge today rejected the application of Sher Singh Rana, who is facing trial in the Phoolan Devi murder case, seeking transfer of the proceedings to another.

Rana filed the application before District Judge Mamta Sehgal alleging that he has no faith in the Additional Sessions Judge, who is presently hearing the case.

The Court, while dismissing the allegation, said the application was without any merit and the case would be heard by Additional Sessions Judge V K Bansal only.

Rana had allegedly shot dead Phoolan Devi outside her 44, Ashoka Road residence here on July 25, 2001.

He had also filed a similar application for tranfer of the case from the court of the earlier judge who was hearing it.
