MCX Composite index of metal, energy down

Mumbai, Jul 2 (UNI) The composite index of metals, energy and agro-commodities was down by 3,275.35 points at the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) today.

Most bullion contracts lost in varying degrees. Gold August and October 2008 contracts lost 1.42 per cent each at Rs 13,019 and Rs 13,127 per 10 grams respectively. Only gold February 2009 contract gained 0.23 per cent to Rs 13,302 per 10 grams.

While silver September 08 contract fell by 1.49 per cent to Rs 25,360 per kg and silver November 08 contract by 1.53 per cent to Rs 25,541 per kg. Platinum September 08 contract also fell by 1.18 per cent to Rs 28,970 per 10 grams.

Aluminium July 08 contract fell by 1.39 per cent to Rs 134.60 per kg, copper November 08 contract by 0.81 per cent to Rs 369.10 per kg, nickel August 08 contract by 0.88 per cent to Rs 952.50 per kg and zinc August 08 contract by 1.23 per cent to Rs 84.20 per kg.

Mentha oil October 08 contract lost 1.25 pc to Rs 560.10 per kg and jute July 08 contract lost 1.40 pc at Rs 1511.50 per quintal, an MCX release said here.
