Cong seeks compensation for death of school girl
Kozhikode, Jul 2 (UNI) The Opposition Congress today urged the Kerala Government to release adequate compensation to the mother of a school girl, who was brutally murdered near her school in the district.
Speaking to newspersons here, DCC President K C Aboo said the mother of the deceased, who was deserted by her husband, deserved compensation as kin of the victims of similar cases were given Government aid in the past.
Meanwhile, Mr Aboo alleged that an attempt was being made in certain quarters to protect accused Mayan Kutty (48), arrested for allegedly murdering Shahana, 4th standard student of Cheradathur M L P School in the district.
Quoting information received by him, the DCC chief said efforts were on to describe the accused, who confessed to murdering the girl while attempting to rape her.
The body of Shahana, who went out of the class room for drinking water during recess, was found hidden in a sack on the terrace of Mayan Kutty's house on June 23.
