Amarnath Yatra continues despite curfew in Jammu
Jammu, Jul 2: Amarnath pilgrimage continued from the base camp here despite curfew in the entire city, with a fresh batch of 1,672 Yatris left for cave shrine of Lord Shiva in South Kashmir Himalayas. A convoy of 35 buses and 18 light motor vehicles carrying 1,672 pilgrims, including 273 women, 49 children and 127 Sadhus, left for Baltal and Pahalgam base camps at around 0515 hrs, official spokesman said.
The pilgrims were escorted by security personnel, the spokesman added. Meanwhile, administration on Wednesday, July 2 clamped curfew in the entire city after violent protests in Jammu on Tuesday, July 1 which left over 50 people, including policemen and photo journalists, injured.
