Accident mars victory procession, 15 injured

Midnapore, Jul 2: At least 15 people were injured, five of them critically, when they accidentally fell into a tank while their procession, celebrating the victory of an Independent candidate in the Municipal Election, was passing over a bridge.

Police said the injured were admitted to the Midnapore Medical College and Hospital, where the condition of five of them was stated to be critical.

More than 5,000 local people had participated in the rally to celebrate the victory of Bisseswar Nayek, a Trinamool Congress-backed Independent candidate.
