VHP 'hartal' call in Kerala on Amarnath Shrine issue
Kochi, Jul 1 (UNI) The Kerala unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today called for a state-wide dawn-to-dusk 'hartal' on July 3 as part of the 'Bharat Bandh' called by the organisation's national leadership on the Amarnath shrine issue.
Addressing a press conference here, VHP Kerala General Secretary K M Unnikrishnan said essential commodities and services would be exempt from the 'hartal'.
The VHP has called for a 'Bharat Bandh' to protest against the Jammu and Kashmir Government's decision not to transfer land to the Amarnath Shrine Board for setting up pilgrim facilities.
As a precursor to the 'hartal', vehicle rallies would be taken out in different parts of Kerala tomorrow, Mr Unnikrishnan said.
