TEA plea to Chidambaram
Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, Jul 1 (UNI) Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) urged Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram to intervene immediately to settle the issue of lorry owners'indefinite strike from midnight tonight to save the export industry.
In a letter to the Minister, a copy of which was released to the press today, TEA President A Sakthivel said the lorry owner's decision had caused panic among the exporters who were concerned about cancellation of orders if the goods were not shipped on time.
The issue has come at a time when the exporters are struggling to cope with the increased prices of inputs and transaction cost.
Considering the sustainability of trade in the global market, he requested the Minister to immediately intervene and settle the issue amicably to save the export industry.
