Rupee further weakens at 43.13/14 per USD

Mumbai, Jul 1: Extending the losses, Rupee further moved weaker at 42.13/14 to over a month-low in the opening trade today on prevailing worries over record high crude oil prices, increasing interest and political uncertainty.

The Indian unit hit its lowest in a more than a month as record high oil prices, hit at USD 143 per barrel yesterday, triggered demand for Dollars. However, suspected central bank intervention is likely to prevent sharp fall ahead, dealers said.

The partially convertible Rupee closed yesterday at 43.03/04, had hit at 43.21 per Dollar in the later part of May.
