Orissa govt to set up 3 ancilliary industrial clusters

Bhubaneswar, Jul 1 (UNI) Orissa government today decided to set up three industrial clusters for the development and promotion of ancilliary industries along with the mega industries in the state.

The three industrial clusters on three different industries -- Aluminium, Food Processing and wood-would be set up at Khurda, Paradeep and Angul.

The decision to set up the clusters was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here today.

As per the decision, the Angul Aluminium park would be set up over 200 acres of land. Public sector Nalco would act as a major investor for the project and supply raw material for production of differeent items for different ancilliary industries.

The cluster would produce automobile parts, aluminium extrusion and other products.

Similarly, the food processing unit would be spread over around 200 acres of land and process marine food, mecca, cashew nuts, organic spices, groundnut and high-quality basmati rice and also make provision for their marketing. The food processing cluster would be set up at Malipada in Khurda, while the wood industrial cluster would be set up at Paradeep.

State-owned Industrial Development Corporation and APICOL has formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the purpose.

Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy, the CMD of Nalco and other top officials of various departments were present at the meeting.
