Puducherry, Jul 1 (UNI) Puducherry Welfare Minister M Kandasamy today termed the agitation against Chief Secretary Rakesh Bihari as a conspiracy against him.

Addressing the press here, Mr Kandasamy, who returned from New Delhi last night, said the Chief Secretary was functioning under the Chief Minister and the Ministers and there was no evidence that he made objectionable remarks against the Council of Ministers.

If the charge was true, he could be removed from the post within an hour,he claimed, adding that the matter was referred to the Privileges Committee.

On the road-roko agitation on the issue, Mr Kandasamy said such agitations affect the people and should be avoided.

It would also affect the image of the Congress Party as well as the government, he added.

Mr Kandasamy said he had called on AICC president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and discussed the political situation.

He also participated in the Scheduled Tribe Welfare Ministers Conference and sought one per cent reservation for the STs in the Union Territory.
