Maruti Suzuki June sales up 2.2% YoY
New Delhi, Jul 1 (UNI) Country's leading car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd today said its sales in June rose 2.2 per cent after it sold more SX4 and DZire sedans and boosted exports.
The automaker sold 61,247 cars, vans and sport-utility vehicles last month compared with 59,917 vehicles a year earlier,representing an increase of 2.2 per cent. While domestic sales rose by a mere 0.7 per cent to 56,411 exports jumped 23.5 per cent to 4,836.
Compared to the sales in June 2007, Maruti's volume in the domestic A2 segment was flat (up by 0.3 per cent) while the A3 segment grew by 48 per cent over June 2007.
However, sales in the C segment (Omni, Versa) were down by 13.1 per cent and those in the A1 segment (M800) fell 13.7 per cent. MUV(Multi Utility Vehicle) sales were up by 158 per cent at 512 units in June.
Maruti's sales in the first quarter of the current fiscal year jumped 13.5 per cent to 192,584 units.
Domestic sales during the April-June quarter climbed 12.1 per cent to 180,093 units and exports surged 37.8 per cent to 12,491 units.
