Jammu administration imposes Section 144

Jammu, Jul 1 (UNI) Following the tense situation here, the district administration has imposed Section 144 of the Cr PC to avoid any untoward incident as the protests against the Jammu and Kashmir government, for not transferring land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), rocked the entire city of temples today.

Despite the imposition by the administration, there is no respite from the protests in the city, the second day today, as hundreds of activists of the BJP, Bajrang Dal, RSS, Shiv Sena and student organisations are reacting violently to express their anger against the state government demanding transfer of land to the SASB.

Meanwhile, over a dozen people, including two photojournalists, were injured in police-public clash in the city here.

Protesters pelted stones and ransacked the police vehicles to lodge their protest as police resorted to lathicharge and fired teargas shells to disperse the agitating mob.
