Hyundai June sales up 45.3 % at 40,182 units

New Delhi, July 1 (UNI) Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country's second largest car manufacturer, today said it has registered an increase of 45.3 per cent in its sales at 40,182 units during the month of June as compared to 27,653 units in the same period last year.

With the global success of i10, the domestic sales went up 34 per cent at 21,881 units compared to 16,335 units over June 2007, the company said in a statement, adding that the exports grew 61.7 per cent at 18,301 units in June08 as against 11,318 units in June07.

In less than six months since its launch, over one lakh units of i10 has been sold.

Compared to the last year's first half, HMIL's cumulative sales has grown by 45.2 per cent, with 2,34,145 units, and domestic sales and exports has gone up 34.9 per cent (at 1,36,194 units) and 62.2 per cent (97,951 units) respectively during Jan-June2008.

In A2 segment, which comprises Santro, i10 and Getz, 33,859 units were sold during June 2008 while in A3 segment, that includes Accent and Verna, 6,272 units were sold.

Only four units of Tucson were sold in the SUV segment during the last month while Sonata Embera, in A5 segment saw the sales of its 47 units.
