Farmers demand equal benefits under loan waiver scheme

Kolhapur, July 1 (UNI) Farmers in the district took out a ''morcha'' to the district collectorate today, demanding equal benefits under the loan waiver scheme for all farmers.

The ''morcha'', organised by the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS), was led by its founder MLA Raju Shetty.

The agitators gathered at the city's historic Dasara Chowk ground, from where they marched to the district collector office, shouting slogans in support of their demand.

A delegation, led by Mr Shetty, later met district additional collector D D Valavi and submitted a memorandum listing their demands, including equal benefit of loan waiver scheme to all farmers, and no reduction in price of milk supplied by farmers to the dairy.

If the demands are not met, they would intensify the agitation step by step, Mr Shetty said.
