Agartala, Jul 1 (UNI) The Tripura police seized about 20 kg of explosives from a grocery shop at Kailashahar along the Indo-Bangladesh border of North Tripura, following information of trans-border movement of miscreants.

Police said here today that the raid was conducted on the basis of inputs of an accused Abdul Rahim of Bhagaban Nagar, who was arrested on June 29 in connection with the Kailashahar highway robbery case two weeks ago.

The SDPO Kailashahar raided the market and recovered the highly inflammable explosives of raw sodium sulphate and sodium carbonate from one Sudhir Paul, who is now absconding.

''During interrogation Abdul disclosed that the miscreants got the explosives and other arms from a section of local businessmen and Sudhir Paul was one of the businessmen who aided several groups with the materials,'' police officials said, adding that they had illegal arms and explosives deal with Bangladesh.

In a separate incident, two BNCT extremists, residents of the Tripura-Mizoram border, surrendered before police yesterday and deposited a factory-made pistol, two factory-made .22 revolvers, one binocular and five rounds of ammunition of self-loaded rifles, police added.
