Discharge from Mettur Dam stepped up
Tiruchirapalli, July 1 (UNI) The discharge from the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur across River Cauvery has been stepped up to 14,000 cusecs since yesterday afternoon from 11,983 cusecs following urgent need for water in the delta region for raising paddy.
PWD sources said this morning the water level stood at 87.670 feet with a meagre inflow of 586 cusecs. The discharge was maintained at 14,000 cusecs.
As much as 3,472 cusecs each was released from Grand Anaicut into River Cauvery and River Vennar, 1,804 cusecs through Grand Anaicut Canal and 1,076 cusecs through Colerooon, the sources said.
