Compensation to be provided for death during sterilisation

Raipur, Jul 1 (UNI) Compensation would be provided to the family members in case of death due to failure in sterilisation as a part of the Family Welfare programme.

Union Family Welfare Commissioner S K Sikander gave the information during a one-day workshop on family welfare organised here yesterday.

He said an agreement has been entered into with insurance companies under the family insurance scheme for providing compensation to family members in case of death during sterilisation.

Compensation would be provided also if sterilisation failed and concerned women became pregnant. Compensation amount could be anything between Rs 25,000 to Rs two lakh.
