CM's plea to Deora on petrol, diesel scarcity in TN
Chennai, Jul 1 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has urged Union Petroleum Minister Murali Deora to intervene into the problem of petrol and diesel scarcity in the State.
In a statement here last night, he said the Centre should take steps and instruct the oil companies to provide adequate stock of petrol and diesel to the dealers and ensure uninterrupted supply to the public.
Meanwhile, senior officials of the State Government reviewed petrol and diesel shortage at various outlets in the State.
At a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary L K Tripathy, officials discussed whether the outlets in the State were compelling the customers to buy branded fuel and the action taken against outlets hoarding fuel.
The sales position and the stock availability were also discussed at the meeting in which senior officials of oil companies participated. They were directed to take immediate steps to ensure enough stock of petrol and diesel was available for sale.
