BSNL launches e-learning for students in Pondy

Puducherry,Jul 1 (UNI) BSNL Puducherry has introduced e-learning for students of standards X and XI, its General Manager Marshal Leo Antony said here today.

Talking to newspersons, Mr Antony said the scheme, the first-of- its-kind, was introduced for broadband customers.

The scheme was launched by BSNL along with Pondicherry Multi Purpose Social Service Society.

The facility was free-of-cost and download charges will be according to the plan.

BSNL Puducherry and Pondicherry University have signed an agreement to establish and integrated telecom sloution (end-to-end digital network) at the university campus.

BSNL Puducherry will carry out the entire project for about Rs twp crore, he said adding once completed, Pondicherry University will be the first to have all infrastrucutre for commuication via optic fibre connectivity to all buildings.

A Main Switchover Centre (MSE) for cellphones will be set up in Puducherry to be used in the place of the present one at Vellore.

All government schools here had sought broadband connectivity,he said and added BSNL Puducherry was providing all technology for egovernance in the government departments in association with NIC.
