AP registers 10.37% annual economic growth

Hyderabad, Jul 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Major Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy said the state has registered a double-digit economic growth of 10.37 per cent for the year 2007-08 as against the national growth rate of 8.73 per cent.

She told a Singapore delegation, led by the country's Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong, who met her here today, that rapid industrial growth taken place in the state during the last four years.

Stating that infrastructure development opportunities available in the state for private participation, she said Singapore was very strong in the areas of electronics, chemicals, petroleum refining, processed food, life sciences.

The state welcomed the singapore investments in these sectors, she added.

She mentioned that the state had the highest number of notified Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the country and among them, IT SEZs were 36 in number.

Ms Reddy also talked of the petroleum, chemical and petrochemical investment region (PCPIR) project being developed between Visakhapatnam and Kakinada.
