Woman killed in after fall from roller-coaster
Bangalore, Jun 30 (UNI) A 27-year-old woman has been killed and her three-year-old daughter injured when they fell down from a mechanised amusement ride in Balbhavan in Cubban Park here.
Talking to newspersons today, Karnataka Woman and Child Welfare Minister Narendra Swamy said the incident took place due to negligence on the part of the ride operator.
Mr Swamy said that during a roller-coaster event, Ms Ayesha, a resident of Byadagi taluk in Gadag district, who was enjoying the ride along with her daughter Namra, fell down from the ride when its door suddenly opened up.
The child, after being treated for minor injuries, was shifted to state-run Children Care Centre.
The Minister said he had issued suspension orders to both the Secretary and Administrator of Balbhavan, which had issued license to the ride operator. ''Preliminary inquiry has revealed that the amusement park was illegally run by a private operator,'' he added.
Replying to questions, the Minister said the amusement sport events were being operated by M/s Funstyle and notices were issued to stop the fun events, which had no permission from the department.
Expressing regret over the incident, the Minister said he had ordered action against the amusement event operator and would pay suitable compensation to the next of the kin of the deceased.
