Tribals curb naxal growth: CM
Pathalgaon(Chhattisgarh), June 30 (UNI) Showering praise on the primitive Pahadi Korva tribals residing in remote areas of Jashpur district, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh claimed that the tribals armed only with their traditional weapons had curbed the naxalite violence in the region.
Addressing a public meeting during his 'Vikash Yatra' at Bagicha yesterday, Dr Singh said the tribals managed to check the ultras using only bows and arrows.
Besides, the tribals also succeeded to drive out those who opposed development works and in protecting their glorious culture, he said.
The Chief Minister said the government was endeavouring to bring the tribals to society's mainstream by making them self-reliant.
He also laid foundation stone for various development works costing about Rs 29 crore.
