Thumb impression machines to be installed at state legislature
Mumbai, June 30 (UNI) All the 367 legislators and 750 employees of Maharashtra legislature will have to register their thumb impression before entering the Vidhan Sabha from the opening day of the monsoon session on July 16.
Announcing this, legislative assembly chairman Babasaheb Kupekar said 15 machines would be installed at various gates of the legislature building to register the thumb impression, to prove their identity. The machines, using bio detection methods, will be installed by Fibertech Company, Mr Kuperkar said.
It may be recalled that BJP legislator Navnath Avad, who was absent from the house for a long time due to ailments, was shown present during the period, with his signature in the register of the house. After the incident came to light, the government had decided to implement an identification method.
