Poverty Minimising Scheme with foreign aid
Chandigarh, Jun 30 (UNI) The Haryana Forest Department is implementing a Natural Resource Management and Poverty Minimising Scheme with foreign aid in the state.
Under the scheme, 40 villages of Kurukshetra district had been selected and forest committees for Common Forest Management had been formed in these villages.
Stating this here today, a spokesman for the department said the Forest Committees were being registered under Society Act.
As many as 7.42 lakh saplings of trees would be planted over 700 hectares of land by Kurukshetra Forest Circle, besides giving free saplings to the farmers and other institutions.
The spokesman said that plantation would be carried along roads, canals, railway lines and protected forest area by these Forest Committees.
These Committees had formulated village specific schemes with the help of project advisor keeping in view the social structure, resources and problems of the village.
A sum of Rs one lakh each had been given to these committees for undertaking common development works in the villages.
