Meet on sustainable dev, arms trade treaty from July 3
New Delhi, Jun 30 (UNI) The Control Arms Foundation of India (CAFI) will hold a two-day Round Table Conference on ''India: Sustainable Development and Arms Trade Treaty'' here from July 3.
The meet would analyse the issue of assessing the linkage and impact of arms transfers and sustainable development.
According to CAFI sources, several experts on arms and sustainable development, government officials, parliamentarians, journalists, lawyers, woman rights groups and others will be participating in the Conference.
Ms Binalakshmi Nepram, founding Secretary General of CAFI said sustainable development was a combination of economic growth and social progress that met the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. However, it could be influenced by international arms transfers in several ways, to undersatnd which the CAFI was holding the conference, she added.
Dr Kapila Vatsayan, Member of Parliament (RS) will inaugurate the Conference.
