{image-L&T logo_30062008.jpg news.oneindia.in}New Delhi, Jun 30: Country's leading engineering and construction company, Larsen and Toubro (L&T) today said it has received a letter of intent (LoI) for Rs 1,557 crore for steam turbine generator package for the Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station in Andhra Pradesh.

This is one of the first orders for supercritical 800 mw steam turbine generator island (including auxiliaries) in the country. The steam turbine generators for the project will be supplied by L&T-MHI Turbine Generator, a joint venture company set up by the L&T and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Japan. The JV was formalised in November 2007. L&T-MHI are in the process of setting up manufacturing facility in Hazaria, Gujarat.

With this order, the L&T also enters into the area of thermal power, employing supercritical technology.
