Govt driver cheats Army on fuel delivery
Gangtok, Jun 30 (UNI) A state transport department driver has been accused of siphoning off some 2229 litres of fuel, meant for the army posted at Nathu La border.
An army Major filed a complaint yesterday against the driver, Nima Wangchuk Bhutia, with the Sherathang police station.
According to the complaint, Bhutia was assigned to deliver 9000 litres of fuel to the army stationed at Sibsu village in the border on June 26. When the oil tanker delivered the assigned, it was found that 2229 litres of fuel was missing on checking.
A formal complaint was lodged with the police who have registered a case.
The accused has not been arrested so far as he is admitted to STNM hospital here in Gangtok, police said.
The oil tanker has been seized and the secretary of the state transport department has been intimidated of the fraud committed by the driver.
