Eight kg Ketamine seized in Tiruchirapalli

Tiruchirapalli, Jun 30: The Air Intelligence Wing of the Air Customs has seized eight kg of ketamine, worth about Rs 30 lakh in the international market, meant for smuggling out to Maldives via Sri Lanka, at the airport here.

Customs department sources said acting on a tip-off, they checked some vegetable packages meant for Sri Lanka and effected the seizure yesterday.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the packages were booked for Sri Lanka by a Madurai-based licensed air cargo agent and efforts were on to secure him, the sources added.
