Dr Sanjay Tyagi to be honoured with B C Roy national award

New Delhi, Jun 30 (UNI) Leading Interventional cardiologist Sanjay Tyagi who heads the department of Cardiology and Arrhythmia Centre at the Maulana Azad Medical College, here has been selected for the prestigeous B C Roy Award for his contribution to the field of medicine.

The award under the category of Oration will be presented to him by the President tomorrow.

Dr Tyagi is credited with initiating several innovative techinques for the first time in the country like techniques of renal angioplasty, peripheral cutting balloon angioplasty, laser angioplasty.

He was the first to introduce renal angioplasty for renovascular hypertension in India. He along with his colleagues in G B Pant Hospital had developed non sugical endovascular treatment methods to treat vascular and valvular stenoses. He has over 240 research publications to his credit.
