Deshmukh demands special package for 1992 riot victims
Mumbai, Jun 30 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today demanded a special assistance from the was centre for the victims of the 1992-93 Mumbai riots.
Speaking at a high-level meeting in Mantralaya here, the Chief Minister directed the officials to write to the Centre regarding this.
The Union Government has given special package for the victims of 1984 riots. A similar package is necessary for riot victims in Mumbai, he said.
While taking a review of the Prime Minister's 15-point programme for minorities, Mr Deshmukh has sought an accurate information about beneficiaries from the minority communities.
The meeting was attended by principal secretary to CM, Swadhin Kshatriya, and secretaries of higher and technical education, primary education and housing.
As many as 36,000 pre-matric students from minority communities would get scholarships, the meeting was told.
