Deora meets OPEC chief, discusses mutual coperation in energy sector

New Delhi, Jun 30 (UNI) Petroleum Minister Murli Deora today met with OPEC President Chakib Khalil and discussed areas of mutual cooperation in the oil and gas sector.

The Minister, who is on a visit to Spain, today inaugurated the Indian Exhibition Pavillion at the prestigious international event ''19th World Petroleum Congress'' at Madrid.

The Pavillion showcases the entire range of developments and opportunties in the Indian oil and gas sector.

Soon after the inauguration, Mr Khalil visited the Pavillion.

Mr Deora and the OPEC chief then discussed areas of mutual cooperation in the oil and gas sector, an official statement said.

In recognition of significant progress being made by the Indian hydrocarbon industry, Indian Oil Corporation received from the King of Spain The Award of Excellance for developing hydro processing technology by their R &D Centre.

This Technology helps in bringing down sulphur content in diesel thereby contributing to production of environment friendly fuels.

IOC has commercialised the technology and is being implemented at their subsidiary Bongaigaon Refinery, thus saving on the investment cost of the company.
