Karat, Yechury to decide on support to UPA govt

New Delhi, Jun 29: The Polit Bureau of the CPI (M) has authorised party General Secretary Prakash Karat and senior colleague Sitaram Yechuri to take a final decision on withdrawing support from the 50-month-old UPA government, Polit Bureau member Bimon Bose said.

The party's Central Committee has already authorised the bureau to take a decision in the wake of the deepened stand-off between the government and the Left parties over the nuclear deal. Speaking to newspersons here on behalf of the party's Polit Bureau, Mr Bose said Mr Karat and Mr Yechuri will now take a final decision in this regard. Mr Bose, who is also the party's West Bengal unit Secretary, said the unit would meet on Monday, July 30 to discuss the preperations on the election front.
