Colin Buchanan appointed as SmartCity Kochi consultant

Kochi, Jun 29 (UNI) United Kingdom-based multi-disciplinary consultancy Colin Buchanan has been appointed master planner for the SmartCity IT park here, SmartCity CEO and Board Member Fareed Abdul Rahman said today.

In a press release released here from Dubai, Mr Abdul Rahman said that ''we will continue to consult with the state government and the local community on our joint IT/ITES vision.'' SmartCity Kochi is a joint venture between Dubai-based TECOM Investments, SAMA Dubai and the Kerala Government.

The project will come up in an area of 246 acres of which 100 acres have already been designated as special economic zone (SEZ).

Stating that SmartCity will develop the master plan in consultation with Colin Buchanan, Mr Abdul Rahman said at the same time the company will actively consult with the Kerala Government and the local community to ensure the success of the self-sustained business township.

Colin Buchanan is a leading UK firm dealing in town master planning, urban design, regeneration, economics and development, transport and traffic engineering and has extensive experience in implementing new and innovative solutions for its global clients, the release said.
