APCO targets Rs 250 crore turnover, plans to export
Hyderabad, Jun 29: Andhra Pradesh State Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society (APCO) Chairman M Sri Ramulu today said that the Society has targetted Rs 250 crore turnover during this year as against Rs 170 crore last year.
Addressing a press conference here he said APCO has received Rs 100 crore order from the state government this year.
Stating that APCO was also planning to export handloom sarees and other materials to USA and Britain, he said the Centre had allocated Rs 40 lakh to set up a designer cell to prepare new designs to meet the requirements of countries importing APCO products.
APCO had exported handloom sarees worth Rs 5 lakh to USA last year as part of its study the market for exports of its products.
Mr Ramulu said APCO outlets had been established in 26 states in the country. But a majoirty of them were not making profits.
