Allowance of science graduates in Haryana raised

Chandigarh, June 29 (UNI) In Haryana, now the science graduates will get Rs 750 per month as unemployment allowance instead of Rs 500 which they got earlier.

They will be given the enhanced allowance from April one onwards.

Disclosing the new unemployment allowance scheme, an official spokesman said here today that under the scheme, the government had increased the allowance of science graduates and even of those who had qualified their senior secondary examinations with science subjects. The government has fixed an allowance of Rs 450 per month for both boys and girls who pass their ten plus with science subjects.

Besides the girls who have passed ten plus two in any stream would also get an unemployment allowance of Rs 450 per month instead of Rs 300 while the boys, barring those who have passed their senior secondary in science stream, will be getting Rs 300 as unemployment allowance.

He said that the science graduates and post graduates would now be getting Rs 750 per month as unemployment allowance. But the girls have been given more liberty by the state government and they will get Rs 750 per month even if they do graduation or post graduation in any of the streams, be it arts, science or commerce. He clarified that the girls can avail benefit only in one category under the scheme.

He said that the students doing three year diploma courses after matric are treated at par with 10+2 pass candidates for unemployment allowance. Before the introduction of the new scheme, there was no subject categorisation and all were treated at par.

The allowance is deposited after every quarter in the bank account of the beneficiary. The arrear of the allowance due from April one this year will be deposited in the bank accounts of the students.
