ACLT to continue agitation till land order is revoked
Srinagar, Jun 29 (UNI) The Action Committee Against Land Transfer (ACALT) has decided to continue the agitation till the transfer order of land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) is not revoked.
Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoum, who was appointed head of the ACALT by both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference, said the agitation would continue till the cabinetd revoked the order and placed it before the public.
He said the peaceful agitation would continue, adding the call for a grand march towards the historic Jamia masjid still stands.
Chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani has also supported the programme of ACALT.
About the withdrawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the ministry, Mr Geelani said this ''decision was taken in the Union Home ministry.'' This was done with the understanding reached between the PDP and Congress, he said.
Mr Geelani said the PDP and Congress were equally responsible for the land transfer. Withdrawing from the government was a political gimmick, he said.
He said Governor's rule or PDP, Congress or National Conference (NC) rule made no difference for people of the Kashmir who are always at receiving end.
''Our duty is to make the people aware about the intention of the government to transfer land to SASB. People wokeup,'' Mr Geelani said.
