1 labourer killed, another injured in boiler blast

Rajkot, Jun 29: A labourer was killed and another sustained injuries in a blast that occurred in the boiler of the coal-gas plant at Comet Vertivied unit near Morbi, around 70 kms from here.

Two labourers -- Deepak Jivani (30) and Sanjay Sanghani (30) -- had scaled a 15-foot high coal gas plant, when suddenly a boiler exploded, yesterday, according to the police.

They were rushed to a hospital in Rajkot, where Jivani succumbed to his injuries late last evening, police said.

It may be recalled that, in same unit, this is the second incident, three weeks ago, six labourers had died of suffocation when they were cleaning the tank.
