Lifer to four in fake currency racket
Surat, Jun 28: A fast track court here has sentenced four persons, including main accused Apurva Shukla of Raipur, to life imprisonment in a fake currency racket case.
Apart from Shukla, the other three who have been convicted are Dayaram Mochi, Hardas Vadalia and Rambhai Nakrani. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 each. Four others were acquitted.
All the accused were arrested by the special task force from a lodge near Surat railway station in August 2005. Police had then seized 977 fake notes in the denomination of Rs 100 from them.
Apurva Shukla was the main supplier of the fake notes. The others would buy the notes from him at Rs 20 each and circulate them in the market.
