Kidney transplant racket in MP

Ujjain, MP, June 28 (UNI) A local court today remanded to police custody, until July 3, three persons of a gang indulging in illegal kidney transplant while the fourth member was remanded to judicial custody.

Police said this evening that the racket came to light during yesterday's search of various hotels, lodges and other places in view of President Pratibha Devisingh Patil's visit here today.

A person putting up at Indore Gate area's Girnar Hotel using the name Rajendra Gupta was taken into custody for interrogation and documents seized from him. Based on the interrogation, police apprehended three of five more accused.

Rajendra Nagar was remanded to judicial custody at the Central Jail while Rajesh Sen, Rajesh Soni and Dilip Chouhan were remanded to police custody. Ahmedabad-resident Vinod Bhai Patel and Girish Soni were yet to be caught. Prime-accused Nagar's son hanged himself at his residence this morning after learning of his father's misdeeds.
