AP number two in economic programme implementation
Hyderabad, Jun 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K Rosaiah today said the state has earned the number two position in the country in implementing the 20 point economic programme for the year 2007-08.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the ruling Congress government had brought the state to the sixth position, from the 21st position during 2002-03, in the very first year of coming to power in 2004.
He said the state had already occupied the number one position in implementing the welfare programmes for the backward class communities in the state.
He said the government was contemplating to bring in a legislation to curb private money lending in the state. A Cabinet sub-commitee had already been formed for the purpose and the next meeting of the committee would be held here on July 5, he said.
Since the Centre had not brought in any legislation to curb private money lending business, the state government had decided to do so, he added.
