Vedic scholar passes away

Mysore, Jun 27 (UNI) Renowned vedic scholar Prof G N Chakravarthy died at his residence following prolonged illness here today.

He was 97. He is survived by wife and three sons.

Prof Chakravarthy was a recipient of Sediyapu Award-2007, Veda Ratna Award, a national award instituted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, and Kannada Rajyotsava Award-2007.

He had penned a number of books in Sanskrit and published many research papers related to Vedas.
