Srinagar, Jun 27 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police chief Kuldeep Khoda awarded Parakram Padak Medals to three policemen for their performance during a fierce encounter at Zakura recently.

A police spokesman said during the encounter on June 22 at village Shopri Bagh, on the outskirts of the city, the three police personnel --- Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar, selection grade constable Sanjay Kumar and constable Bilal Ahmed-- showed extraordinary commitment.

The decision to confer the Medals was taken at a Police Establishment Board meeting held here today under the chairmanship of DG Police.

He said nominations of the cases were examined and decision to award these Padak was taken after thorough deliberation and in light of norms of Union Home Ministry.
