Sixteen more Lankan refugees arrived

Rameswaram, Jun 27 (UNI) Sixteen more Sri Lankan Tamil refugees, including five children, arrived here today.

Official sources told UNI that the refugees, comprising five families hailing from Mannar and Mullaitheevu regions in the island nation, arrived in two batches at Dhanushkodi and Pamban here in a clandestine boat paying a huge sum.

After preliminary investigations by the State intelligence and revenue officials, they were sent to the Special Refugee Camp at Mandapam, this evening.

Meanwhile, another group of three refugees also took refuge in the same camp.

The refugees, hailing from Jaffna had arrived in Tamil Nadu recently with valid documents. They registered with the authorities and were put up at the camp.
