Six killed in AP as car falls into pit

Vijayawada, Jun 27 (UNI) Six people were killed and one was injured when their car fell into a pit dug up for construction of Pushkara irrigation canalat Burugupudi National Highway in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh today.

Police sources told UNI over phone that the car, carrying the people, including three women and two teenagers, was on its way to the temple town of Annavaram from Khammam, when the accident occurred.

The deceased were identified as V Chandrasekhar (35), V Shakuntala (35), Anusuya (60), Anuvamma (60), Ankush (15) and Aparna (15).

While five people died on the spot, another succumbed to injuries at Government Hospital in Prathipadu. The injured was admitted to the Kakinada Government General Hospital, where his condition was stated to be stable.
